This laboratory is equipped with a 90-kilowatt controllable power supply device from the AVL company in Austria, with a voltage range of 6 to 600 volts and a maximum current of 300 amperes. This device is used for current testing of various battery modules and packs with different chemistries and applications. Additionally, this device can be used as a battery emulator for testing high-power equipment such as inverters and electric vehicle drives. One of the most important applications of this device is the capability to conduct protection tests during charging and discharging according to the ECE R100 standard, which is a mandatory requirement for battery packs in automotive applications. In this test, the charging and discharging process is carried out with a specified current to assess the functional safety of the battery pack against out-of-range current and voltage of the lithium battery.
