The design and development of a fully electric urban bus began in 2020 with the support of the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and in collaboration with “Zarrin Khodro Isfahan”. The powertrain, designed and manufactured by Mana Company, was integrated into the Zarrin Khodro low-floor bus and can be configured in different charging modes, including overnight charging, slow/fast hybrid charging, or range extender with plug-in capability.
In this project, 75% to 80% of the electric powertrain has been localized and domestically designed. The traction motors, generator, single-speed gearbox, traction drives, auxiliary power systems, inverters, electrical power distribution system, and multiple cooling systems have all been developed domestically.
Additionally, while the battery cells were sourced externally, the battery pack assembly, cooling system, and protective systems were designed and manufactured locally. The bus chassis itself belongs to Zarrin Khodro, which manufactures it in the outskirts of Isfahan.
